A little open mindedness, flexibility goes a long way. So don't blame me for thinking that the two, the port check test and the green light in uTor were unrelated. Oh, and DWK, I understand the theory behind it all, that a green light in uTor means that the port was forwarded and all that, and I'm not at all saying that you were wrong, but you clearly didn't think about browser error. I changed the local ip for all my progs, the connection test for Shareaza failed on the TCP, but passed on the UDP, and they completely failed on Soulseek, but I think Soulseek just uses tcp. If anyone has any clue as to why that is, please let me know. I never thought the day would come that IE was actually better at something than Firefox, but there you go. So, for a very long time, when my ports were actually forwarded, because of Firefox, i thought they were not. it's erratic, sometimes it still gives a red, but sometimes not.Īll the while though, after making those 2 changes, utorrent gave a green icon, instead of yellow, and well seeded torrs came in at high speeds. Now, later, after rebooting, port checking in firefox is also green. I also checked the ports in IE instead of Firefox, and there they were green! I changed the ports back from 55461 to 21486 as it had been, I changed my modems settings such that my local ip is 192.168.1.12 instead of 192.168.1.10ī. Okay I made two changes and so far they seem to work:Ī. the speculative conclusion from this seems to be: unforwarded ports have nothing to do with either green lights or speeds. Yet, the light was GREEN, speeds were high, even for Shareaza (like 50 KB/s individually). I think my ports were NEVER forwarded, since they were not forwarded for Shareaza, ever. Now, there seems to be a 2nd complication: Corel comes bundled with Dell.ĭon't ask me how, but all I know is that I was uninstalling that and afterwards my speeds sucked and the light went yellow. The only thing which comes to mind, is since a lot of my settings, and file-associations are now screwed up, in the sense that seemed to have reverted to default values, is that Corel took "revenge" on me for uninstalling their crap product. ![]() Since the light became yellow, I've only had reasonable speeds on the ubuntu.iso (advised here like a test thing), like around 100 kBs. :? I know that's a very hard thing to do, but at the same time we won't assume you're ALL arrogant know-it-alls, even though that's almost as hard. It kinda behoves the staff NOT to assume askers are ALL morons. And please don't ask if those were 120 MB or whatever, they were regular sized 350's. Let me put it like this: popular downloads like episodes Bionic Woman (I know, I know, who knew? ) of 350 MB, I got those in 30 mins, Threshold even in under 22 mins. I know that the first thing you guys do is check whether askers now this.
